Tateshina Kogen (plateau/highland) is located at 900m - 1800 meters above the sea level in the northwestern slope of Northern Yatsugatake and Southern Yatsugatake Volcanic Groups.
There are several hot spring areas in Tateshina Kogen, and it is said that soldiers of warlord Takeda Shingen in the Warring States period have healed tiredness and wounds.
Today, there are many second houses, cottages, hotels, ryokan (Japanese style), etc., from the coolness of the Tateshina Kogen to summer resort and snow resort in winter.
There is also a scenic little pond (Mishaka-ike) here, well known for “Midori Hibiku” by masterpieces of Japanese painters "Kaii Higashiyama" and SHARP’s television commercials.
